BILL JACKAMEIT'S STUDEBAKER PAGE
Welcome fans of the pride of South Bend.
I am a long-time Studebaker fan and Studebaker Drivers Club member, having owned a 1957 Silver Hawk in high school and a 1959 Lark Regal Hardtop in college.
Since then, I have owned other Studes as hobby cars including a 1962 Champ Pickup, a 1964 Canadian Commander Special Sedan, a 1962 GT Hawk, a 1960 Lark Regal 4-door, a 1957 Silver Hawk (not the same one I owned in high school -- that one I wrecked) and a 1949 Champion Starlight Coupe.
My current Studes are a 1964 Challenger Wagonaire with sliding roof, a 1964 Daytona Sedan, and a 1963 GT Hawk.
I will build this page as time allows.

This sharp 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk Coupe is owned by Lin Crawford of Gordonsville, Virginia.
Lin has owned his Hawk for about 10 years.
When he acquired the car it had significant rust issues and was in need of a mechanical refresh.
Lin replaced the front floors and fabricated repair panels for other areas of the car.
The body was taken apart, repaired piece by piece, and reassembled.
The driver side rear quarter panel was beyond repair and was replaced with an NOS rear quarter panel purchased at the York Swap Meet.
Lin did the work himself except for a professional paint job in the original color of Midnight Black.
Rather than rebuild the original 289 V8, Lin decided to have a full flow 289 V8 from a 1963 Lark Cruiser rebuilt to use in its place.
The 1963 engine was equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and would eliminate the need to deal with the top of the engine partial flow oil filter.
The Flightomatic automatic transmission was also professionally rebuilt.
The brakes were rebuilt as original and the car is equipped with Ford Crown Victoria 15" by 6.5" heavy duty police wheels and Cooper Trendsetter radial tires.
The full wheel covers are the 1961 type which Lin found at an antique shop.
Factory options on Lin's Hawk include Flightomatic transmission, push-button radio, Climatizer heater and defroster, vinyl interior, front bumper guards, and a dashboard clock.
Most 1957 Silver Hawks were powered by the 289 cubic inch Studebaker V8.
The 289 V8 cars are identified by a crossed flags emblem on the front fenders and by having dual exhaust.
The V8 was rated at 210 horsepower with the standard two-barrel carburetor or 225 horsepower with the optional four-barrel carburetor.
Total production of 1957 Silver Hawk Coupes was 14,950.
Of these, 10,787 were eight cylinder and 4,163 had the 185 cubic inch 101 horsepower Champion six.
The pictures were taken in August 2022 at a Greater Virginia SDC meeting and driving tour.
Thanks to Lin Crawford for the information on his sharp 1957 Silver Hawk.

The Main Page is issued every other month so the next edition will be December 2022.
All of the previous editions of the Main Page going back to October 1995 have been reposted.
In the process of reposting the pages, I have made corrections and revisions as needed, and in some cases added material that was not used when a page was first posted due to download speed and file storage limitations.
A complete list of Main Pages and Studes of the Month with links to each is located here.

Custom 1954 Conestoga Station Wagon

Work in Progress
This custom 1954 Conestoga Station Wagon is owned by Larry Ramsdell of Denver, Colorado.
When Larry was building his wagon he considered making it into a panel delivery.
He was able to get one panel from Studebaker International and figured he could use it as a pattern for the other side.
Later on he changed his mind and decided to remove the C-pillar to get the look he wanted.
Larry's Conestoga has a Dodge Aspen subframe and is powered by a Chrysler LA 318 V8 with a Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
The seats are from a Subaru and the ceneter console is from an older Chevy Suburban.
Here is a picture of Larry's wagon from before it was modified.
Larry posted the pictures above to the Studebaker Station Wagon Owners and Fans group on Facebook.
The group covers all years of Studebaker station wagons both stock and modified.
This is a relatively new group that I started in November 2021.
It is a public group so you don't need to have a Facebook account to visit the group or to view its contents.
The group has grown rapidly to the point where there are over 1,600 members and hundreds of posts.
The posts include numerous pictures, video links, and other materials related to Studebaker station wagons.
2022 DRIVE YOUR STUDEBAKER DAY
1964 Daytona Sedan
1963 GT Hawk
1964 Challenger Wagonaire
The Complete Lineup
September 10 was International Drive Your Studebaker Day for 2022.
With nothing in particular planned for my area, I decided to get my three Studes out for a local drive.
Each one got its turn and they were all back in the garage before the rain came in later in the day.
All three are manual transmission and the Daytona and Hawk have overdrive.
My 1964 Challenger Wagonaire was Stude of the Month in April 2103 and my 1964 Daytona Sedan was Stude of the Month in October 2017.
The 1963 Gran Turismo Hawk is a recent addition and will be featured in a future edition of this page.
If you have some pictures from the 2022 International Drive Your Studebaker Day that you would like to see on this page, please send them to the Pagemaster at the e-mail address on the bottom of the page.

STUDE MISCELLANY
1956 Power Hawk Coupe Update
Bob Ridle of Port St. Lucie, Florida sent some recent pictures of his 1956 Studebaker Power Hawk Coupe.
Bob's Power Hawk was Stude of the Month back in December 2009 when he was living in Staunton, Virginia.
The Hawk was stored in Virginia for a couple of years before Bob brought it to Florida in 2019.
Bob's car is equipped with the 259 cubic inch displacement V-8 with two-barrel carburator rated at 170 horsepower for the 1956 model year.
The attractive two-tone paint scheme on Bob's Hawk is the type found on 1956 Hawk hardtops.
Bob added a trim piece used on the hardtops to the rear quarter panels of his car to allow this to be done.
The colors are Romany Red and Snowcap White.
The car looks every bit as nice as it did 13 years ago.
Follow the link above for the full story of this beautiful car.
It is always a pleasure to do an update on a long-term ownership car that previously appeared on this page.
Thanks to Bob for sending the updated pictures and information on his 1956 Power Hawk Coupe.
ANOTHER STUDE TOY COLLECTION
STUDEBAKER MODEL RAILROAD DIORAMAS
STUDE TOY OF THE MONTH
Adventure Force 1953 Studebaker Starliner
The Adventure Force Color Changing 1953 Studebaker Starliner is a recent issue available at Walmart.
It is nominally 1:64 scale and changes body color from white to blue when placed in icy water.
Over time it fades back to its original white.
It comes packed on a blister card with another vehicle.
It is manufactured for Walmart by Maisto in China.
Maisto has issued its 1:64 scale Studebaker Starliner in metallic red and in blue with silver trim.
In addition to its small scale series of low price diecast toy cars, Maiso also makes high quality 1:18 scale diecast models.
Miasto's 1:18 scale 1953 Studebaker Starliner Hardtop has been issued in several color combinations.
This model features opening doors, an opening hood and truck, and a nicely detailed engine and interior.
Both the 1:18 scale and 1:64 scale Maisto 1953 Starliners can be found on eBay.
More toy Studes can be found in the Stude Stuff area of this page and on my Studebaker Toys Home Page.
